2005 Philadelphia Distance Run: 2,560th place

by David Sturtz

I ran the Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Distance Run Half-Marathon this past Sunday. My chip time was 1:50:31. I couldn’t hold off Olympic bronze medalist Deena Kastor as she broke the American half-marathon record with a time of 1:07:53. (Of course I never even saw her, so I guess I didn’t stand much chance.)

It was a gorgeous morning, and a great course. The first third goes through center city, down the parkway, over to fourth street and back and back up the parkway towards the art museum. The rest of the race is through Fairmount Park along the Schuylkill river, finishing back by the art museum.
